Comment Everything can be hacked, cracked and cloned (Score 1) 6

I don't know why the British think they're so superior. Everything... E-V-E-R-Y-T-H-I-N-G can be hacked and cloned. Do they really think their crappy ID card is that advanced? Some hackers brought down Twitter and Facebook yesterday. They jailbroke the iPhone 3GS in like two days. Gary McKinnon broke into the frickin NASA to find out if there are aliens!! Jeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeze.

Atlantis Seekers Given Thrill by Google Ocean 321

RcK writes "Numerous articles are springing up regarding a feature found using the new Google Ocean, which some claim could be the location of Atlantis. While this is obviously early, and probably has the same credibility levels as previous claims of finding the mythical city, the detected anomaly is quite convincingly linear, is apparently the size of Wales and sits near where Plato hypothesized the city to be located." Google has stated that this is an issue with the way their ocean mapping software is working, but clearly that is a cover up while Google execs try to buy the real estate. I just hope they bring back Elvis next.

Submission + - Microsoft Secret Prototype Phone Stolen (computerweekly.com)

bossanovalithium writes: "With details emerging about the theft of a top secret prototype mobile device stolen from an executive's pocket. With the speed of the jungle drums online, it could well be a futile move — steal a phone at a large mobile conference — it's gonna be pretty obvious who nicked it when the story breaks? It's like a big cluedo 2.0 story waiting to break. Or some hapless waiter is gonna get a shock when they try and sell it on..."

Obama Anti-Trust Chief on Google the Monopoly Threat 364

CWmike writes "The blogosphere regularly excoriates Microsoft for being a monopoly, but Google may be in the cross-hairs of the nation's next anti-trust chief for monopolistic behavior, writes Preston Gralla. Last June, Christine A. Varney, President Obama's nominee to be the next antitrust chief, warned that Google already had a monopoly in online advertising. 'For me, Microsoft is so last century. They are not the problem,' Varney said at a June 19 panel discussion sponsored by the American Antitrust Institute, according to a Bloomberg report. The US economy will 'continually see a problem — potentially with Google' because it already 'has acquired a monopoly in Internet online advertising.' Varney has yet to be confirmed as antitrust chief, and she said all this before she was nominated. Still, it spells potentially bad news for Google. It may be time for the company to start adding to its legal staff."

Microsoft and Red Hat Team Up On Virtualization 168

mjasay writes "For years Microsoft has insisted that open-source vendors acknowledge its patent portfolio as a precursor to interoperability discussions. Today, Microsoft shed that charade and announced an interoperability alliance with Red Hat for virtualization. The nuts-and-bolts of the agreement are somewhat pedantic, providing for Red Hat to validate Windows Server guests to be supported on Red Hat Enterprise virtualization technologies, and other technical support details. But the real crux of the agreement is what isn't there: patents. Red Hat has long held that open standards and open APIs are the key to interoperability, even as Microsoft insisted patents play a critical role in working together, and got Novell to buy in. Today, Red Hat's vision seems to have won out with an interoperability deal heavy on technical integration and light on lawyers."

COMPLETELY AGREE. I try and leave my phone at home as much as I can. If I'm five minutes late you get someone calling incessantly asking "where are you?" I also hate the fact that you could be anywhere doing anything yet if the phone rings you're under pressure to answer it. I usually don't but it bugs me when you're in the middle of say a conversation and the other person says "oh one sec" and answers their phone so you have to stand there and wait for them to finish like an idiot! That's just rude!
