There are other complications. What is the useful range of one of these reflectors? Even if it's measured in miles, or 10's of miles, you'd have to drop thousands if not millions of these things on the seafloor in order to get a position anywhere in the world. With thousands of these things on the bottom, how do you know which reflector you're getting a bounce from? How do you accurately position these on the seafloor? How long can they effectively reflect sounds before they become encrusted, concreted, or silted over?
