Comment Efficient 4 cyclinder KIA - NOT (Score 1) 403

I had a 10 year old for Explorer, 5.0L V6, All wheel drive, 114k miles and I used it like a truck, lots of hauling. etc. In a mirage of advertising, I started to look at a crossover to replace the vehicle as my needs have changed. I ended up with a KIA Sportage with a towing package so I could still haul smalls loads but keep it as a more family vehicle but still get some benefits of a SUV. The Sportage has a 4 cylinder engine and a listed EPA Hwy MPG of 29 I think. Which is much better than the 15 - 18 I would get on my Explorer. After having the Sportage for a month or two the fuel economy sucked, city driving mostly, stop and go traffic for miles and miles and was getting 17 - 20 MPG. When I finally made my first long drive I got 27 - 29 MPG in the Eco mode. After a few more months I found a key to getting better MPG, I have to absolutely baby this vehicle, keep it in Eco mode and watch the indicator and keep acceleration slow and easy and highway speed to no more than 65 - 70 for the best economy. Now I am getting 24 city driving and 32 on the highway, which is still way below what my expectations regardless of the stated EPA estimates.

The criminals involved had no concern over the victims. They didn't ensure they had a comfortable safe end to their life, they most likely died in horrible trauma or worse. Should this individuals have died in a calm and wonderful way so he had no suffering....I'm sure that would be for the best, no one planned this, it just happened, do I feel for their family; Yes. Do I feel for the criminal: no his fate played out as it was planned.

Comment IT Training (Score 1) 117

I have experienced nearly 30 years in both GOV and Commercial environments. Training had gotten tighter and tighter over the last 5 years. Having to pay out of pocket is not unusual and from my perspective make the employee a bit more involved and in the training and something at stake if they just planned on blowing it off. If you pass it you get most of your investment back, if you don't, well maybe you didn't want it bad enough. The comment about getting training for a specific skill set is the new way of doing things. Much pressure is being put on the creators of the DOD 8570 requirement to do away with or at least augment the requirement for the overarching certification and focus on the specific training a particular person need, CISCO, IDS/IPS, Firewall, Fortify, Retina, Nessus, what have you. They don't need to be a mile wide and and inch deep as the CISSP requires, it requires in depth knowledge of one product.
