Using your resources (that you pay for) to display ads that you didn't consent to is harmful in a similar way. It's not harmful if you want the LG Monitor App Installer and consent to the ads, but that's not what's going on.

In my opinion malware is the most accurate term for this. (Adware isn't, as adware is ad-supported software, but it does say adware-like.) I would say that installing without your permission and showing ads is malicious. (And if any of the ads do any kind of tracking, that's "stealing" data - as it's taking your data without your consent - and makes it spyware.)
If this came from anyone other than Microsoft, there would be no doubt it is malware. Like say you visited a website and something was installed without your permission that caused ads to display on your computer. It use to happen (to people that didn't have the sense to protect themselves from it) and we referred to that as a specific type of malware (virus).

You've reached the opposite conclusion than is logical from the post you replied to. No, you can't force a child with ADHD to focus on something they don't find interesting. Their brain literally does not work that way. It's the same as trying to punish a paralyzed child into walking.

It's called work instead of fun-happy-time for a reason.

Note that with adults (who have had a chance to develop attention regulation), we give a positive incentive for working (payment). When we force adults to work under threat of punishment, that's called slavery, which is illegal in many places and generally frowned upon (no one wants that for their child).

They don't require a smartphone to be a passenger, actually. Uber has a number you can just call, and both Uber and Lyft let you book a ride on the website using a computer.

Breaking the rules or the law, which varies depending on the specific bus system and area. So it might be something violent yes, but it can also be something like "failure to follow a lawful direction or request from an employee", for example putting your bag on a seat and refusing to move it when the driver tells you to.

Depends on what was done, if it's your first ban, etc.

Pity the poor bus driver who has to tell someone they're not allowed on the bus. Someone who may have been banned as a result of some past violence.

Most drivers don't put themselves in danger like that. Sometimes if they recognize someone that isn't supposed to be on the bus they just don't open the door, and drive off. But in this case the person would already be on the bus. So what will happen is police will meet the bus at a stop (either a future stop or, if the system is immediate, they may say they can't leave yet without telling passengers why), and take the person off.

Pretty sure I also acknowledged that WoW is different from Minecraft and you give up some options when you choose a game like WoW instead of a game like Minecraft.

Yes people can go play something else, but it's ridiculous that the law doesn't allow people to just play WoW the way they want when it is entirely possible to do so. (You'll lose your progress with Blizzard at some point too.)

And yes WoW was never intended to be a private server game... but it is entirely possible for it to be so and it's ridiculous that the laws don't allow for it. Nobody is harming anyone by playing it as such. You can't even argue that it is lost revenue as Blizzard does not allow people to pay to play it as such.

And yes I will go play something else. I haven't played WoW in at least 18 years, and I don't actually care about WoW in particular. I can still think it's ridiculous that the law is against people playing games the way they want. Between this and recent threats of legal action against some translations (which I also acknowledge would be completely in line with the laws), it's on my mind. I know this is the way things are. But it doesn't have to be.

That it showed Blizzard the features of Classic WoW are desirable, does not mean that the people playing on custom servers with the features of Classic WoW switched over to Classic WoW. And okay, likely some did. But I don't think it's anywhere near as many as companies expect it is.

Many people aren't going to trust that Blizzard won't just make undesirable changes again. Many people just don't want to pay, period. Many people just want to be on a private server (even though for many other people the massive part is the whole point). Etc. etc. etc. These people will move on to another game, or another server that Blizzard hasn't found yet.

Minecraft shows that it's entirely possible to have a game with official servers and unofficial servers, custom servers of all type, whatever version of the game a person desires, people playing however they like, coexisting and being profitable. People should have the option of playing without paying a monthly fee. And of continuing to play when official support ends (which it undoubtedly will someday). And I know you give up those options when you choose a game like WoW. But it doesn't have to be that way.

So make it happen. Get rid of your car today and start biking. People that want to play on these custom servers (those that don't also play on the official servers, because some do) aren't going to pay to play on the official servers because the custom servers are taken away.

Sure, they're not paying Blizzard. But they're also not using any of Blizzard's resources (by not being on Blizzard's servers). So it takes nothing away from Blizzard.

People should be able to play how they want. It's ridiculous that the laws are against this.
