You simply cannot just up and replace a product that has 1000s of paid (ie motivated) developers working on it with a budget in the billions of dollars overnight with a vibe-coded alternative. If you rely on open source, you can eventually get there, but even then, it can take years to catch up and make perfect.

They managed to get one manufacture to give up margins to get the $899 price point, I suspect those won't actually be available to buy and the real price is closer to $1200.

Whether you use mac, windows or linux it seems like it does not matter and it's all down to personal preference of the UI (heck maybe just down the fonts since they kind of look the same these days) and most important tasks are now either web based or multi-platform anyway. So why would I need/want agents running on my OS when they really need to be running in a datacenter accessing web resources??
