That is completely false. National crime statistics have been on a downward trend for more than a decade! You are way way safer today than you were 20 years ago. The rediculus levels of hype that each crime gets is a product of the invention of the 24 hour news station. They have to fill all those hours with something and nothing is quite as exciting and dramatic as the lastest kidnapping / missing person. Americans have become obsessed with fear of crime to near neurotic levels. Roy Wells
