Because someone should. Market doesn't work in this case, unless there is one player that can force everybody else to comply.

Providing a tangentially related example, even with EU regulations laptop manufacturers are screwing up, making only one of USB-C ports available for charging. Until the moment Microsoft demands "make all ports equal or say goodbye to your Windows certification", and I'm so grateful for this through I'm not a Windows user.

English is a notoriously bad language to describe software design. Just look at any existing specification: it is either impossibly huge, or horribly incomplete, or both.

And now you're trying to use this barely working approach to manage a helpful idiot who never asks questions and just tries to guess what it needs to do. Good luck.
