The solution is based on FHIR which is an open standard - as described here https://www.hl7.org/fhir/overv... "Healthcare records are increasingly becoming digitized. As patients move around the healthcare ecosystem, their electronic health records must be available, discoverable, and understandable. Further, to support automated clinical decision support and other machine-based processing, the data must also be structured and standardized. (See Coming digital challenges in healthcare) HL7 has been addressing these challenges by producing healthcare data exchange and information modeling standards for over 20 years. FHIR is a new specification based on emerging industry approaches, but informed by years of lessons around requirements, successes and challenges gained through defining and implementing HL7 v2 , HL7 v3 and the RIM, and CDA . FHIR can be used as a stand-alone data exchange standard, but can and will also be used in partnership with existing widely used standards."

Submission + - NASA Launching Super Pressure Balloon - Wanaka, New Zealand (nzherald.co.nz)

rupert.applin writes: The NZ Herald is reporting the launch of another super pressure balloon from Wanaka Airport in New Zealand.

"A stadium-sized balloon launch conducted by Nasa is going ahead in Wanaka after seven failed attempts.

Nasa will be conducting a super-pressure balloon test flight from Wanaka on a planned 100-day journey.

After launch the balloon will ascend to an altitude of 33.5 kilometres where the stratospheric winds will propel it at speeds of at least 100 knots through the heating and cooling of the day-night cycle on a weeks-long journey around the Southern Hemisphere, said Debbie Fairbrother, Nasa's Balloon Programme Office chief."

It's fair enough too - you can't expect people to wait for you, without some level of charge, when you've booked them for a certain time - if you knew you were going to be late, then you should book the ride for a later time. Two minutes should be ample to exit the house/foyer of the building to where the ride is waiting. Whereas giving a little more grace period to the driver is fairer as there are things outside their control with regard to getting to your location on time - they can't control the traffic etc.

Yep, it wouldn't be so bad if you just had to get updates from Google and the manufacturer, but when you have to suffer the carriers wanting to put their crap into the OS as well - then you are really in trouble as they don't care a jot about 'old' devices, but would much rather sell you something new that spend money providing updates for what they have sold previously.

It's interesting how quickly what was a job title for someone, became so quickly a term used solely the device. Where in the 1940's a "computer" was someone who did math, then by the 1960's, someone who did the same job as her peers 20 years prior was given that as a nickname. http://crgis.ndc.nasa.gov/hist...
