Comment I'm sorry, but Greg, how dumb are you? (Score 0) 76

People put things with internet-connected cameras in their houses and act all surprised when pics from inside their house show up on the Internet?

I mean, WTF?

This guy had devices in the house that he KNEW had an active camera, AND he literally did things in front of it that he didn't want publicly shared (I mean, how hard is it to shut the bathroom door when doing your business)?

I suppose somewhere someone is fornicating on the floor in front of their Roomba, and would be shocked to discover that if a human had access to that image they would share it?

The Gregs of this world will always amaze me.

When completing the paperwork, the sales guy was nutzo about me signing up for the FordPass app and all the remote shit they try to pile on the car. I couldn't stop laughing when I asked exactly what remote feature would be of any use to me. His answer was remote door unlock and starting, plus "helpful reminders about service needed on the car". First of all, when you are selling a new car, telling the customer that they will NEED reminders about ALL the service the car requires, that is not a good look!! (Have to say, I have had several Fords of the same model, and always had no service issues besides the normal oil, filter and tire wear). Remote starting - I have never used it, ditto with the remote unlock. I mean, who in their right mind would want an Internet app that could do that!?!?

I have no doubt somehow the dealership makes money when they get the customer to sign up for all the remote 'features', although it seems hard to believe one car sending data about my driving habits can be worth very much.

A couple days after getting the car home I went through the onboard menus and turned off all modems and Wifi settings that I could find, which unbeknownst to me someone (dealer or Ford itself) had kindly activated. Not sure I actually believe the car is not somehow communicating data to the mothership, but I have done what I can. I really find it hard to believe that ANYONE wants this crap.

I don't know, if a co-worker showed up at work after working from home for a year and they were 3 inches taller, I would probably be like "WTF happened to you?!?!" :)

Chapter 11, IIUC, is for companies that have reasonable assets with which to pay off their creditors.

Probably to muddy the waters a little bit longer to allow the connected people to get anything of value out of the company while they can. By the time this is kicked back for a Chapter 22, there will only be liabilities and the less-connected dummies will be left holding less than nothing....

Last time I bought a car, the salesman/dealer was gobsmaked that I was choosing the car with the small display (~3") rather than the larger ~10" display. I was laughing because I use the radio for exactly 1 radio station, use my phone for navigation, if needed. I still have no idea what a central display adds to a car (that I would actually want).

I just booked a hotel room for later this year. I was presented with prices that included:
Hotel room with king bed: $X
Hotel room with king bed and mini bar: $X + $50.

I found it amusing that somehow the hotel thought I might pay extra for the pleasure of being ripped off by their crazy minibar prices. WTF.

Stringfield's home also includes a personal 3D printer that will allow her to reprint anything she may need, "everything from electrical outlet to trim to cabinet knobs," Janet V. Green, CEO of Habitat for Humanity Peninsula and Greater Williamsburg, told CNN.

OK Janet, lets see you demonstrate how you would print a (working) electrical outlet. Or a 6 foot piece of trim. :)
