There is no operator overloading in Java.
In fact, there's much less magic in Java than in more hip languages, and that's a very good thing in my book.

It's "Gerrymandered" with a "G"
But you can't gerrymander a Senate (or Governor) race. That's a big part of why you don't see Republicans in the House from MA, but you do see Republican Governors and (now) Senators.
. Groovy will never have the kind of edit-time IDE intelligence simply due to it's dynamic nature. But for now, it stands ahead (after all, it has been around longer).
The SpringSource guys seems to hold a different opinion: http://blog.springsource.com/2009/07/30/a-groovier-eclipse-experience/ . They're doing some pretty neat stuff with Groovy in Eclipse.
