Err, in BBC BASIC, 1982, you can do something like:

PROCstring("Hello World","print") END DEF PROCstring(a$,b$) IF b$="print" THEN REM ========== Print method ========== PRINT a$ ENDPROC ENDIF REM put all the other methods for strings here PROCwhateverstringsareinheritedfrom(a$,b$) ENDPROC

It's kind of object oriented. It might require BBC BASIC 5 (1987) or something, though. I'm sure somebody will say it's not proper OO, but I think I can extend it a bit if neccesary.
