Especially impressive work by the BBC restoration team involves the use of a process called VidFire

Using a system of between-frame vector interpolation, it produces a pretty good imitation of video quality (at 50fps) in cases where only a telecine recording (25fps) of the original program exists. (Only works when the original material was shot in video)
Some of those old '60s shows can end up looking eerilly contemporary!
