Submission + - Security Vulnerabilities on HTC Android Devices (androidpolice.com)

revjtanton writes: "In recent updates to some of its devices, HTC introduces a suite of logging tools that collected information. Lots of information. LOTS. Whatever the reason was, whether for better understanding problems on users' devices, easier remote analysis, corporate evilness — it doesn't matter."

Submission + - ImageShack Hacked! (mashable.com) 5

revjtanton writes: "Tonight a group calling themselves "Anti-Sec" hacked ImageShack and replaced many of the site's hosted images with one of their own detailing their manifesto. The group's grievance is against full-disclosure. They simply want the practice in security cirlces to end, and they've promised to cause mayhem and destruction if it doesn't.

These guys/gals are taking direct aim against a sect of the IT industry who is already armed to fight them...but they also already know that. It should be interesting to see how this plays out, whether you agree with them or not."

Submission + - Amazon.com to accept game trade-in's

revjtanton writes: "Amid all the discussion and argument about Gamestop's 2 billion dollar trade-in industry it seems Amazon.com is getting in on the action.

Amazon asks for the games to be in good condition like Gamestop, however they offer just a few more dollars for your discarded game (Gamestop listed Left 4 Dead for the 360 at $24 while Amazon had it at $26.50 trade-in value).

Gamestop had already ruffled feathers in the developer and distribution communities with it's practice of accepting used games, does Amazon joining the practice legitimize it?"
