Same basic principal applies to most companies. Think Lowe's and Home Depot vs local mom&pop hardware store. One truck delivers 5000 different shapes and styles of nuts and bolts to a single place, one driver drives the truck, one sales rep manages the account and so on, vs.250 different shapes and styles of nuts and bolts to 500 different places with multiple trucks, drivers and sales reps. Economies of scale and centralized shopping are another piece of what is killing the middle class. Technology just does it faster and louder.

While we are eliminating and reducing waste", how about whittling down the House of Representatives from 435 to a nice even, workable number, let's say 100. Just like the Senate. Seems that we waste more time and money on these ineffective jackoffs with their expenses, staff, travel, salary and other benefits. I'm sure we could save almost $1Billion a year out of the budget. Then again, if we didn't have the House, then the USPS might not be in such a heap of financial trouble in the first place.

This is precisely why I held on to my Ymail account, Gmail was barely usable when it first came out and has become less usable the more they screw with it. I enjoy when they do this as it gives me an excuse to get annoyed and look for something better. If IE didn't blow it, I would have had no reason to start using Firefox and if Firefox didn't lock up and spike my CPU so often, I may have never bothered using Chromium then Chrome. When Chrome blows it something better will come along.
