Comment Transparency? Open government? FOIA? Nahhh.... (Score 1) 163

Nothing says "commitment to transparency and open government" and adherence to the letter and the spririt of FOIA laws like handing out burner phones so the Oligarchs can contact the Executive without leaving a record of it. Yeah. If Trump did this, it would be worse than when the Germans nuked Pearl Harbor, or something.

Comment Chevron defference. (Score 1) 173

Another win for capitalism based on the termination of the Chevron deference doctrine. At state levels, most supreme courts have decided that 1 year is the magical term for non-competes in general. This seems reasonable for most cases. A few highly compensated employees (already a well-defined category under tax law) might have it legitimately extended to 2-3 years. The whole notion that ANY kind of non-compete, with any length, is automatically illegal is an FTC "expert" invented notion. The workaround would be to structure pay packages with huge chunks of deferred compensation held hostage until a future date, vested only if no competition had indeed been the case.

"Bill Gates diversified his portfolio through Cascade Investment. __Therefore__, his other investments did not yield the returns that Microsoft stock would have provided." Who writes such causality destroying drivel? So BECAUSE Bill diversified, the other investments underperformed MS? That's what "Therefore" means. Stupid LLMs don't know anything.

Comment Stupidest Sentence - Half-nalysis (Score 1) 77

"Buttigieg said the DOT is also protecting airline passengers from being surprised by hidden fees -- a move he estimates will have Americans billions of dollars every year." That's called a half-nalysis. Because, OF COURSE, the airlines will simply allow their average ticket price to fall by the amount of the "hidden fees" rather than increase the base ticket price to compensate accordingly. Because, OF COURSE, they hate money and will gladly absorb loss of revenue from elimination of "hidden fees". What economics school did this little toddler savant attend that he doesn't grasp this concept? Or does he understand and instead chose to lie in his little statement?
