Journal rdewald's Journal: Smile! You're on the V330! 9
My friend with the new blog He's Dead, Jim has just written another very interesting entry, "Currency." Damn, do I have interesting friends or what? Go post some comments.
She took me out to dinner last night. That makes me smile like this and I'm still walking about 6 feet off the ground.
Speaking of walking, I don't know what it is about these sticky-hot, humid NYC summer nights, but just when you'd think I'd want to stay the hell indoors in some AC, it makes me feel like walking. So I took the train down to 72nd Street and walked home (to 118th St, about 2.5-3 miles). I don't know what it is, maybe it's that fact that I'm going to be drenched in sweat no matter what I do, but it feels great to just get out and move in the this heat. And walking up Broadway on the Upper West Side has lots of perks on a Saturday night, plus there's a lot of refreshing stops to make along the way.
For those anti-NYC snobs out there (I know you're there), let me tell you, this will still get you this from here, (what? you don't have a tab-capable browser?) and it's one of the best meals to be had in this sometimes ridiculously over-priced City. Grey's Papaya gills their all-beef dogs on a flat grill, toasts the buns, and gives you a choice of kraut or stewed onions as a topping, and with your two dogs you can get a fresh papaya drink, with all that papain, to help you digest the protein in those dogs.
I didn't live in NYC when I drank to ridiculous excess, but I've been told this combo is a sure hangover cure/preventative, or works really well as a late-night pre-crash snack. It beats the hell out of Taco Bell drive-thru for taste, freshness, quality and satisfaction, I can tell you that from personal experience.
Then, you can walk up the street a bit and spend the same amount of currency and get this, which in spite of it's appearance, really only has about 50 kcals. I don't know how they make Tasti-D-Lite such a tasty delight and so light on the hips, but I believe them, I've lost a lot of weight eating this stuff, and on a night like tonight, the 85th street store looks like this (sorry for the blurryness), with a line like this and yes, my new reconditioned V330 replacement arrived and I was having some fun with the camera phone.
In other news, my therapist got me good and pissed off yesterday. I fairly certian that's going to inspire some more regular JE writing. However, I can still smile, even after my headband is so soaked with sweat I have to take it off.

Didn't walk, but got to drive with the sunroof open, which allowed the song of the frogs & cicadas in, along with the faint scent of freshly mown hay. Along the way, had to stop to wait for a new litter of puppies & their mother to get out of the road.
Supper cost about $20 for three of us, including a generous tip (for admittedly abysmal service -- either she had a mental processing disorder, she was on drugs, or she was just fucking lazy as all hell). AND

Ahh, New Yourk City. (Score:1)
The dogs look good but do they have fresh onions and mustard?? Not much for kraut, though stewed onions souns interesting enough to try once. Is that joint the famous Papaya King or another papaya and dog joint?? Two dogs for less that three bucks?? That is a deal.
