I wish the court would take up the issue of companies that exist solely to buy up other people's patents and enforce them in court. Companies like Acacia are nothing more than groups of lawyers committing legal extortion.

It may seem like a ridiculous law to you, but that is probably because you are not a songwriter. Songwriters work very hard and deserve compensation if someone samples, or better STEALS, part of their work and profits from it. I am with the ACSAP on this one, not just because I am also a songwriter. If you like the music enough to sample it, then you need to get a license. Simple as that.

The internet will end the reign of the majors. Indy music is selling better and better every year and fans are tired of the same old junk being thrown at them over the radio and MTV. As a musician/songwriter myself, I see this as a good thing.
