Comment one website with one login and one profile (Score 1) 446

Hi guys I'm already using this site http://fonet.mobi/ which allows me to connect to couple of web sites using Oauth. this web sites don't store your credentials also as you always enter your user id and password at the original( (like facebook, linkedIn etc) web site and after authentication, the original web site redirects you back to this web site http://fonet.mobi./ After the first authentication from the original web site, it never sends back to original web site( unless you change your password at the original web site) and it pull your data from web site. I'm already using couple of web site like facebook, linkedIn, twitter, Picasa, Google calendar etc. Its very conveneint as I don't have to enter my password any more. They also have setting where I can remove my oAuth token from this web site. Not only that, They have one page where they display my profile from difference site to a single page and my friends don't have to search my profile to so many web sites as they can all my profile at single page. I'm very impressed with this web site. Another thing, this is a mobile web site and it doesn't have any advertisement also. If you haven't tried this web site, you should try it once.

To say the business cards are "old school" - or whatever is sort of naive. Okay - so what's the alternative? None that I know of. Granted, people don't keep "Rolodexes" anymore (those are too old-school). Considering they use PIMs, Outlook, iPhones, whatever - they key is integrating the two.

What would seem to make a hell of a lot of sense to me, would be if there was some sort of a standard for putting those 2D barcodes on the back of a business card, so people could quickly load them into their phone or PC via camera scanner software.

Yea, maybe then business cards could be obsolete I guess, in that someone could flash their card, and one could just scan it with their phone. (As opposed to physically needing to give someone a card).

You can use http://fonet.mobi/ to display your contact information as 2D code and another user can his smartphone to read the 2d code and save the data as CSV file. after that you load the file in your contact file directly.

3 Drinks a Day Keeps the Doctor Away 470

Nzimmer911 writes "Heavy drinkers outlive non-drinkers according to a 20 years study following 1,824 people. From the article: 'But a new paper in the journal Alcoholism: Clinical and Experimental Research suggests that - for reasons that aren't entirely clear - abstaining from alcohol does actually tend to increase one's risk of dying even when you exclude former drinkers. The most shocking part? Abstainers' mortality rates are higher than those of heavy drinkers.'"

Indian Police Using Facebook to Catch Scofflaw Drivers 130

New Delhi police have a new weapon in the battle against bad drivers, Facebook. Two months ago the police created a Facebook page that allowed people to inform on others breaking traffic laws, and upload pictures of the violations. The page has more than 17,000 fans, and 3,000 pictures currently. From the article: "The online rap sheet was impressive. There are photos of people on motorcycles without helmets, cars stopped in crosswalks, drivers on cellphones, drivers in the middle of illegal turns and improperly parked vehicles. Using the pictures, the Delhi Traffic Police have issued 665 tickets, using the license plate numbers shown in the photos to track vehicle owners, said the city’s joint commissioner of traffic, Satyendra Garg."
