Comment People are using bitcoin wrong (Score 2) 376

We need to have a bank account with bitcoin that is not necessarily tied to a bitcoin wallet, that would just be bitcoin credit, similarly to what a fiat coin account would be. And then bitcoin credit card where a payment wouldn't require any movement of bitcoin from a wallet to the next and the financial institution could approve that purchase in bitcoin immediately. And then, financial institutions would only need to do a bitcoin transaction once in a while in large batches and they wouldn't mind paying $5 to complete that transaction. A bitcoin transaction would also be required when you are cashing out, but hopefully you don't have to cash out $9 dollars at a time, just like you don't withdraw $9 from an ATM.

Comment Don't make your software update so painful (Score 1) 507

Don't push unwanted updates down people's throat. Don't make updates so annoying that you have to reboot your computer so often. People shouldn't be forced to stop everything they are doing to reboot their computer so often. If you want everyone to do them, these updates should be seamless.

State media reports that the discovery of these scanner cheaters led to the detection of several infected cases later.

Is JavaScript Ready For Creating Quality Games? 165

kumpetan writes "After seeing so many games built with JavaScript, and considering the applications it powers and the use of Ajax, it seems like web developers are now in the game development pot. It is getting easier and more popular with libraries like jQuery, MooTools, Prototype, etc. There are even libraries like Game JS, GameQuery or JavaScript GameLib, specifically for this purpose. So, will we start to see more ambitious game projects arise using these tools?"

New "MP3 100% Compatible" Logo For DRM-Free Music 263

Sockatume writes "A coalition of seven UK digital music stores have created a logo for DRM-free, MP3 music. The 'MP3: 100% Compatible' logo allows the stores to emphasize the advantages of the format, namely that MP3 files will run on any device and won't keel over and die as DRM-laden files are wont to. The BPI — the UK equivalent of the RIAA — is backing the scheme, emphasizing that it will also allow users to identify legitimate stores."

Programming .NET 3.5 224

lamaditx writes "The world of the .NET framework is taken to the next level by the release of .NET 3.5. The intended audience of this book are experienced .NET programmers. There are no sections that tell you details about C#, SQL servers or anything like that. I don't recommend this book if you never worked on a .NET project and don't know how to set up a SQL database. You should be aware that the code is written in C#. You might use one of the software code converters if you prefer Visual Basic instead. I think the code is still readable even if you do not know C#. I appreciate the fact that the authors decided to use one language only because it keeps the book smaller. The authors assume you are using Visual Studio 2008. You don't necessarily need to update to 2008 if you are working with an older edition because you can use the free Express Edition to get started." Keep reading for the rest of Adrian's review.
