Comment Slack Teams (Score 1) 128

We have a company that is half .NET (i.e. MSFT-happy) developers and half Java devs. Those groups were using Teams (and predecessors) vs Slack respectively. The feeling I hear constantly is that "wow, Slack is great!" (from the Teams folks) and "I'll leave Slack over my dead body" (from the Slack folks). Pretty much nobody thinks Teams is great for any reason outside of the business development folks who like its tight integration with Office. It's just "there" and "free" (i.e. we pay for Office365, so we get Teams too). To be fair, Slack's video chat isn't the greatest, but that old purchase of Skype and integration of their tech into Teams may be its one saving grace.

True, but the situation with NASA is more like: The plumber says it will probably end up costing $110 to fix the sink. You say that $90 is the most you will pay AND he can only use his ATK wrench and USA pipe-cutters to do it, even when he says he might have tools in his bag that work better. Since you're the boss, he does it the way you want, but isn't very pleased with you.

Oh, and NASA's budget hasn't "taken a hit" per-se, but the last time NASA was told to build a new space ship, congress at least gave them a 50% bump in funding for a few years for the extra cost involved in building it. Recently congress has done nothing of the sort, which leaves us with at least a half-decade without a space ship to fly. Here are some charts I generated last year to back that up: http://imgur.com/HE5kf.png

SpaceX Completes Dragon Parachute Test 83

mattclar writes "SpaceX just released footage and pictures of last week's Dragon parachute drop test. Using an Erickson Air-Crane, the Dragon capsule was carried to 14,000 feet, then released. After a few seconds of freefall, the drouge chutes appeared, followed by the main chutes. The test concluded with a gentle touchdown within the target area to conclude a test described by SpaceX as '100% successful.'"
