The Parallella Solution is much much more energy efficient than a GPU because a GPU have to power (for HPC unused) parts like Polygon Rendering circuits and stuff like that.
Think about it ~40GFLOPS for 1...2 Watts...hell, even the chips that they produce now in a 65nm process could be built easily into a Smartphone
