Alright, just to get it out the way I am not a MS supporter, however I feel everyone is looking at this the wrong way. Particularly what Microsoft's intentions here are clearly to speed up network browsing. What they intend on doing is the same way lots of metaframe server farms work (citrix) and other server-server communication. What they will end up doing is when you do a search for a file from your computer on the network for x server your filesystem will send a SQL query (via XML) to the network server and then the server will do a search for those files and then send the list of their locations back to you immediately (via XML). Another client-server method that they're trying to pave the road for. However yes it is more moving parts, so more room for problems, but if they do get it working I could see it being nice to an extent being able to communicate the file system via query.
