Apple already knew they needed to replace Classic Mac OS and had been trying unsuccessfully for years. That's when they decided to go with a pre-built solution and started looking at NextSTEP and BeOS. They picked NextSTEP and Steve brought the NextSTEP devs with him and overhauled both hardware and software in a remarkably short period of time.

But it didn't take Steve coming back for Apple to realize that Classic Mac OS was on it's last legs. The crazy amount of time and money Apple invested in replacing Mac OS, and failing to actually do so, is part of why they were near death in the first place.

I like Arch based distros because those people are the ones who provide the KDE help I need when I google issues. :)

I'm running Fedora, have been forever so I doubt I'll change unless something crazy happens but since I don't use the default DE - it seems the Arch folks are always the ones who have my answers. So I appreciate them even if I don't use it.

I am a native English speaker living in Hungary and I can say without reservation that Google Translate is really bad at Hungarian. It can handle individual words ok sometimes but anything beyond that and it falls apart quickly. So even without sound issues, it's not really something you can use for any communication beyond the most basic.

They bought the land to develop because a big freeway is supposed to go right through the middle. They'll extort the state for a ton of money, make a huge amount of profit and then exit before the community is fully done. So the long term viability of the site is irrelevant.

I'm glad I wrote the post just for the moo.

I've still got 80% of a novel I did for nanowrimo that I want to finish and put out there but I never seem to get around to it.
