company was bought out and I had to personally take the computer equipment from about 2000 "Laid Off" employees. Then when I requesting details on completing tasks in the new companies systems on our slack channels, my supervisor got a call, telling me to stop asking questions, because it was making the IT management look bad for not having any knowledge articles or written down policies. I found a new position making a little bit more and made sure my last day was the week before they started moving 1500 people to the new building

If you took it to an Apple store they would help. AppleCare "technicians", generally speaking, are Tier I support. Mac Genii are considered tiers II and III. There's a whole lot of stuff AppleCare techs aren't given permission to do, that a Mac Genius will. Not to mention, I'm sure any reputable Apple authorized service provider would be more than willing to help and put it on Apple's dime. I've personally never drank anyone's Kool-Aid, I prefer Macs for home (for simplicity and ease of use), and was a Mac Genius for about 3 1/2 years. I now support about 1000 Windows 7 machines, and a couple dozen windows 2008 servers. They're all infernal machines to me :). The truth is there have been virii for Macs for a long time. One of the big reasons people don't get infected is, you have to authenticate for there very installation. If you're typing your password in to install a package, and don't know what it is, that's the problem, not the operating system.

for the past year or so, everytime one of our salemen's outlook does something retarted, I replace it with thunderbird, and install openoffice. We are a large format digital printing company and occasionally we have people sending us their images as an office doc. Not really that big of a deal to print to a pdf in M$ office, but it's much easier for our technically disinclined salemen to click on export. I have actually installed 2007 on my computer to play, and had the salesmen and our boss come give it a try, and let them make their own decision, all around they wanted openoffice instead.
