R. A. Salvatore (Score 1)

Someone else already mentioned him but I really like this guy. He's been around for a long time and the only thing I haven't read from him is his Tarzan book. If you were around Dungeons and Dragons growing up like I was, you should check him out. His books for Forgotten Realms are all about the Drow elf Drizzt Do'Urden. He has also written some books for smaller publishers that he had alot more control over the environment and got to create alot more. He has excellent character development and almost no one in his books are exempt from dying. He is the author that started the newest series for Star Wars where Chewbacca gets killed.
