so this guy is saying "hey, capitalism is great, it does all these great things, espcially for me! BUT now that i have mine, and based on perceived problems (not necessarily REAL ones) we should abandon the system that has done such great things for multitudes of people." What other system would be as good? The author doesn't say. Because there is none. Instead he says people should be more responsible. This is a fantastic suggestion. The error in his logic is that ONLY CAPITALISM allows people to take an active roll in changing the shape of the market. We already see it happening around us. You see that story floating around social media shaming the candy industry for not promising they dont use child labor (as if theres something inherently wrong with child labor... What age is a child? Is that child providing a tremendous benefit to his family by having a job? Does mcdonalds not employ "children"? is the neighbor kid down the street mowing lawns not a "child"?) If it was an honest campaing, then people could choose to buy candy from US adult-run shops instead... Point is, the power is in the consumer! How awesome! us little people with our choices and shape these things! Only free market capitalism enables our choices, our dollars to mean anything.
