Do you think that our "protection" is of more importance to the American Government than public opinion? Last time I checked, people voted their Congressmen into office. That means that if the public opinion is in the majority against was in Iraq (which I'm pretty sure it is, at this moment), than Congressmen that are pro-war won't get voted in. Thus: Bush et all would want to at least give us enough information so that we could see everything from his point of view, and, presumably, be on his side then. If he (Bush) could sway public opinion to be in favor of a war, he would, don't you think?
