Comment Outlook, Outlook (New) and Outlook (classic). (Score 2) 36

Great software. And I love how Microsoft deploys it. In my organization it was pot luck. Some ended up with Outlook and Outlook (New). Others with Outlook and Outlook (Classic). We try to uninstall the new Outlook app, but it should just be called Outlook (Zombie), since it comes back from the dead all the time. But me. I am a winner. I ended up with just two Outlook apps, with somewhat similar icons. Real software engineering here, Microsoft. Carry on!

It is even sillier than that. At my work, machines cloned from the same image, and after you install Microsoft 365 sometimes you end up with Outlook Classic and Outlook. Sometimes Outlook and Outlook (new). Sometimes both are called Outlook, and we distinguish by the slightly different icon. When they release this Outlook Copilot version it is not going to be fun, not it is not.

I have the same experience. At work we supply iPhones to our administrative level employees, with one of the reasons being it is simpler to use. It may have been true in the past, but not any longer. Most users struggle at the most basic of things. They don't even know there is a search function, and those who know don't know what to search for. You tell them to install an app, which they know they must search for, and they install the one app that comes on top, which is always an ad. You tell them to reset the phone to factory before returning it for service or replacement, and most just stare at you. The users who have private android phones, seem to go through the tasks in the phone quicker, searching and finding the settings they want without much of an issue. These users are at parity when it comes to cognitive abilities, age, and even share some of the same functions within the organization. So, Google is doing something right with the UX, Apple is not.

The vulnerability is with the HEVC codecs. As far as I know these are not installed by default up to Windows 10 1903 versions. Presume they can be installed by the manufacturers with their factory installations. But then again, I always wipe those and install a clean image without the bloat and just the drivers from scratch at work. Don't you?

Comment Select sound card in Spotify for Windows. (Score 1) 66

So, can we change the output audio device in Spotify for Windows, now? Understand that the masses don't care if the music playing is wrecked by alerts of different sorts, from e-mail arriving to end of page hit on their favourite word processor. But true music lovers care, that's why they have, for example, an extra usb DAC and an above average set of speakers, or want music coming out of a preamp for their high impedance headphones. Can't be that hard to have an option to change the sound card, can it?
