If you already have the Mac, OS-X vs Linux is usually just a matter of personal preference.

Exactly. I bought my Mac back in 2011 because nothing came close to the battery life and those specs at that price while being slim enough to be able to fit in my bag every day. Now, Yosemite really does look like an awful OS upgrade, visuals aside, there are some seriously bad bugs, the new spotlight (desktop search) sends every query to Apple (no idea why) and Microsoft (for Bing) and the fact that most of the new features require a recent iPhone. I'm clinging on to OSX Mavericks for now, but I will move to Linux if the battery life is decent.

Emulation applies to API function call emulation as much as it does CPU instruction emulation since the function calls are translated to native system calls in the same way, and the term can even apply to network protocol emulation, HDD command emulation, BIOS emulation etc.

Using your definition a Z80 emulator is merely an environment of Z80 CPU instructions, which just shows the distinction is inconsistent with itself.

You don't get to redefine the English language just because you have a popular FOSS project, especially when the term is well established for the same process in every other domain of computing.

I saw the notification yesterday and thought that I had some kind of malware. There's no record of it in the update history either, which would have been helpful.

I'm still pretty irritated that the update was installed without my knowledge, since I depend on my computer to be stable for my day to day work and can't afford any downtime with a botched update (which has happened before).

This ain't even a joke. My "Boy Love" fanatic ex also thought it was okay to have videos of 12 year old boys showering and hugging inappropriately, all the while blaming anyone unfortunate enough to be male for starting at her nearly exposed breasts, and calling every regretful sexual encounter "rape". The feminist double standards have really gone too far, affected the minds of girls who are now young adults, and have begun to remove all safe spaces for men to be themselves. Speaking out against this gets you labelled as a misogynist without further discussion leaving many men without a voice, which is the actual definition of oppression.

That is what SteamOS is really about. The current consoles are nothing but restricted PCs with slower hardware, locked down (mandatory paid) online and hellish certification requirements. In a couple of years, a "Steam Console" will be quite attractive to consumers an developers and they will never need to know that it is running Debian Linux.

When the Retina enhanced redesign of iOS was released (iOS 7), the majority of products being sold had Retina displays. Now, only two very high end models of their Macs have Retina displays. Really, they should have waited until they had "mainstream" Retina Macs before changing the fonts, like they did with the iPhone and iPads.

In a surprise revelation, a vendor of anti-DDOS equipment claimed that everybody else is doing it wrong, and leaves several subtle hints that their own equipment and services are the only true defence against a concerted DDOS attack. In a further shocking comment, the article disclosed that almost everybody else is constantly under some form of DDOS attack, hinting that you might be next. As a final nail in the coffin of your amateurish "Network Security" the experts reveal that there is nothing you can do - the better you protect your systems, and the more traffic your current systems will be designed to handle, the more aggressive attackers will become.

Fair enough, I guess I can only say with 100% certainty that the Imax cinema in Waterloo, London uses linear polarization. I've recently done some work on various stereoscopic viewing methods, so I am very confident that I can tell different types apart.

And you're right, I noticed especially on scenes where the objects were meant to be "in front" of the screen, things did seem pretty disorientating. Luckily, I had a decent seat, so it wasn't all that bad.
