3.0.2 to 3.0.4 is not a big update. It's actually quite minor. And there are grumblings of the WebOS team disbanding. WebOS's best days are likely behind it -which is unfortunate because I purchased a TouchPad through the firesale and quite like it.

HikingStick is exactly right. We used Hummingbird for a while and it got out of hand and then it was every bit as bad as what you're experiencing now but we paid an arm and a leg for it (so it felt much worse). It's a decent product, but we ended up with migrating to SharePoint since it fit our needs.

An anonymous reader points out a ReadWriteWeb piece on an hour-long demo of Wolfram|Alpha (which we discussed at its announcement). Stephen Wolfram does not like to call it a "search engine," preferring instead the term "computational knowledge engine." It will open to the public in May. "The hype around Wolfram|Alpha, the next 'Google killer' from the makers of Mathematica, has been building over the last few weeks. Today, we were lucky enough to attend a one-hour web demo with Stephen Wolfram, and from what we've seen, it definitely looks like it can live up to the hype — though, because it is so different from traditional search engines, it will definitely not be a 'Google killer.' According to Stephen Wolfram, the goal of Alpha is to give everyone access to expert knowledge and the data that a specialist would be able to compute from this information."

alphadogg writes with this excerpt from Network World: "Stanford University researchers are designing an operating system from the ground up to handle the power and security requirements of mobile devices. The Cinder operating system is already working on an Arm chip, and members of the team are working on making it run on the HTC G1 handset, according to Philip Levis, a Stanford assistant professor. Levis spoke about Cinder at the Stanford Computer Forum on Tuesday. If an application isn't running as fast as the user wants, a Cinder-based phone could include a button to boost the energy allocated to that application, Levis said. Cinder also could allow users to download any code and run it safely on their phones in a 'sandbox' mode."

Completely different. In the case of playing real guitar, the unamplified string sounds you are playing are on pitch with whatever is coming from the amplifier. When using a real guitar as a game controller, the actual frequency that the string rings at will clash with the sound that emanates from the TV.

The problem I see with it is that unless you turn your TV's sound way up, you're going to hear the tinny off-key strings of the guitar while you play. It'll just be random notes (chromatic scales on a lot of the runs) that will be very off-putting beyond the first few minutes. I appreciate the feel of a real guitar, but the Guitar Hero controllers feel just about perfect for what they're asked to do.
