I live in College Station, the second place Amazon launched drones. The drone facility is way too close to some houses. Amazon works on making the drones quieter when in flight, but they're crazy loud when taking off and especially landing. The noise is loud enough where OSHA would say that they would need to wear hearing protection in their own yards. There have also been people trying to recover from surgery or chemo that haven't been able to sleep. Home values have been decimated. This is just one of the many huge mistakes Amazon has made with their drone program.

I think the obvious problem that would happen with something like this is that the original post is something benign that goes viral and then the "clarification" is something vulgar that potentially shows up in the unsuspecting user's profile that happened to like the tweet. This seems to solve one problem, but could open a big can of worms too.

PCI compliance is more about checking a few boxes and has little to do with true security. I recently spoke to the head of security for a fairly large financial company and he told me that PCI compliance created a lot of red tape, but enforced very little security. All of the major companies go through other testing outside of PCI to make sure they're secure. I have no doubt Equifax was fully PCI compliant.

I make less than 100K and we're expecting our sixth kid (yes, we're planning on single handedly saving social security). We live in an area with a middle range cost of living and easily have everything we need. I can't conceive of how one child could break the bank in Atlanta even if they're getting everything they've ever wanted.

Embryonic stem cells (and any kind of pluripotent stem cells) are hard to work with and haven't produced many results. Adult stem cells are much cheaper to work with and have produced a lot of good results. This isn't a PR issue, it's a technical issue.

Comment I reverted back to a dumb phone (Score 1) 66

I was one of the first people I knew to get a smart phone (Treo 270). I later had another smart phone, but I switched back to a dumb phone because it was less disruptive to my life. My problem is that I tend to use technologies when they're readily available to me. If I don't have an internet connection on my phone, I don't have the constant temptation to get on it and ignore the people I love.

The 50% of all American marriages end in divorce statistic gets referenced all the time. The problem is that it isn't true. Although there are different ways of measuring the divorce rate, a good average seems to be somewhere around 30% and it's getting lower.
