When I saw this post's headline, my first thought was Twain. For two reasons
1) the above quote
2) that, though we knew Twain was right, science has proven it. Twitter IS the telelectroscope (https://history-computer.com/Library/MarkTwain1898.pdf). In spite of Twain's warning, in out time, "poor Clayton was hanged" anyway.
