All very good points and true. But I think the post you replied to has the answer to all these points. A rebel/insurgent force doesn't take tanks on directly, they go after the logistical tail. How far does an Abrahms go without fuel? How effective is an Abrahms if out of fuel and the batteries have run down? Cruising range might be over 250 miles but that's not how a fight goes and if empty...it's nothing but a coffin.

I'm not being disrespectful to the US Military, my family has a long history of service in several branches, but MBTs aren't made for insurgency operations. I'm sure you know that with your experience. The more important question in such a hypothetical scenario would be how much of the US Military will be supportive of a government gone rogue enough to need it for defense against other Americans?

Scientists Find Tears Are the Anti-Viagra 207

An anonymous reader writes "The male test subjects didn't know what they were smelling, they were just given little vials of clear liquid and told to sniff. But when those vials contained a woman's tears (collected while she watched a sad movie), the men rated pictures of women's faces as less sexually attractive, and their saliva contained less testosterone. Is this proof that humans make and respond to pheromones? The researcher behind the study doesn't use that controversial word, but he says his findings do prove that tears contain meaningful chemical messages."

Single-Player Game Model 'Finished,' Says EA Exec 439

Frank Gibeau, label president for EA Games, recently spoke with Develop about the publisher's long term development strategy. Gibeau thinks developing major games without multiplayer modes is a passing fad: "...it’s not only about multiplayer, it’s about being connected. I firmly believe that the way the products we have are going, they need to be connected online. ... I volunteer you to speak to EA’s studio heads; they’ll tell you the same thing. They’re very comfortable moving the discussion towards how we make connected gameplay – be it co-operative or multiplayer or online services – as opposed to fire-and-forget, packaged goods only, single-player, 25-hours-and you’re out. I think that model is finished. Online is where the innovation and the action [are] at."
