Children aren’t reading for the same reason most adults aren’t reading and for the same reason most people can’t find anything good to watch in theaters or tv. Corporate interests want “sure” things and since they are the gate keepers to all media they invest in tired ideas that they already have the rights to. It’s easier to just promote the hell out of it so that everyone feels like everybody else likes it and they should too. Books are the same and good children’s books are even more difficult to find. Our sons will read a book in less than a week if it’s actually good but then the next books in the series..not so much. Because the publishers know people will buy it, so they push for the sequel in spite of its lack of any inspiration or imagination. And kids can’t read it which creates a lack of interest in the whole idea of it. We don’t let our kids play video games or watch tv for more than 90min a day, 2hrs on weekends but until we find a decent book they would rather draw or play their guitar or try to fit a basketball up their nose. But when we get a good book we have to limit their reading time just to keep reading as an option for more than a week. So write better books, find better ideas and kids will read.

Itâ(TM)s funny that people are saying how theyâ(TM)re so tired of hearing about the Climate Crisis. âoeIf you donâ(TM)t have a solution then sit down and shut up!â -seems to be their general consensus. That of course IS the reason itâ(TM)s not changing and nothing is getting done. âoeItâ(TM)s just not going to happen until the free market can figure out a way to make it profitable!â -seems to be the insinuation. No one wants to own it, for good reason but it is the accepted corporate stance because too many people have too much to lose for them to allow that to happen. In fact itâ(TM)s more likely that the climate crisis will simply be seen as another opportunity to profit off of others. So cheers to those of you doing your part to convince everyone to just shut the f#@$ up unless we have THE idea that will solve everything and make everyone happy and profitable. Maybe if youâ(TM)re so tired YOU should go have little lie down and just stay out of the f#@$ing way.

Show me the land where you can build your little homestead that HASN'T already been secured by the force of the military of our government and the taxes that make that possible. We are all tempted to look back fondly on a bygone era and romanticize how "great" it would have been but to believe that we should try to somehow bring that model of the world back into existence is worse than living in some fantasy world via a video game in the basement of your parents house! Your fantasy becomes a distraction for everyone as it only creates more of a clusterf$&@ in our already overburdened political system. Making it harder for any politician who wants to change things for the better while making it easier for others to serve themselves in the smoke screen of your revolutionary fantasy. So put on your three cornered hat and grab your musket but try to remember that many of us wouldn't exist without the collective force of our government. The pilgrims who first came to this land centuries ago lived in little towns just as you describe and their struggles quickly led them to do exactly what you suggest and you better believe that if you WERE the type of person that wouldn't have already brought your share of goods for contribution you would no longer be a member of that community and rightly so. I think people need to ask themselves what they're really trying to be free from. Is it really freedom from taxation? Do you think that food is actually be taxed out of your mouth? It's more likely that you're being taxed out of the Porsche you've always wanted or even just that Toyota Highlander (hybrid maybe) for the family car, now that I can relate to. Will tax cuts make that happen for you? Really?! I don't know how much money you have to make for tax cuts to make a significant impact on your quality of life but I make enough to qualify as middle class and I think the last time someone cut taxes to better my life I got enough to put floor mats in my new Honda CRV. No one wants to work their a$$ of and have a significant amount of there income (child's college fund, retirement, or God forbid a family vacation) be taxed into the fabled "piss Christ" exhibit or the "40oz slush fund" of all the degenerates Ayn Rand warned us against. But at the end of the day you'll have to look at yourself in the mirror and decide if you yourself aren't one of those degenerates that Ayn was talking about or perhaps you think that by trying to shrug us all off you will appear to be.

In the Movie industry agents are a must if you're a hot commodity. They take a percentage of what they can get for you, so the more they get you, the more they get. If you're sort of hot or pretty decent then what they can get for is part of a dynamic whereby they maintain good relations with the Studios/Producers so that they can continue to make a living until the next superstar comes there way. But if you don't know how to realistically judge your own value, as well as a particular Studio/Producer's budget then agents are a very necessary evil.
