that this thing is pointless. In case you haven't thought to try it, the surface of the couch works perfectly well with an optical mouse. I can sit with laptop on my couch, using a cordless optical mouse at my side on the cushion (or wide arm) next to me and the mouse performs as well as if it were on a mousepad or desktop. pete
