I know you comment was of comedic intent, and I don't really see why we need to make everything XML, but XML PDF has been done. Check out the Mars project from adobe labs.
It isn't easy being the parent of a six-year-old. However, it's a pretty small price to pay for having somebody around the house who understands computers.
