Comment Re:Burnout Paradise "fun to explore"?! (Score 1) 104

yeah its there. That being said, I RTFA and I honestly dont know what the article was trying to make a point of, they ramble on about story lines in games being important and then try to throw in some garbled message of how much play mechanics matter and ends the article about how much they cant wait for a game from a lionhead, ok..... Honeslty i havent played any of the games they mention except for Burnout Paradise, and the thing that makes it fun to play for me at least is the fact that it's mindless fun, smash, crash and slam your way to the finish line in the races, and watching yourself crash during some of the stunt runs is great. The online part of the game is just as fun as well with everyone competing in races to just pulling off some trick to hit the goal. It's the first game I have ever bought points for just to be able to buy the extras they are now offering, from the new cars and motorcycles to opening a new part of the city that was previously closed. It's the best $30 that i have spent on a game in a long time.

It seems every year is starting to be the "The year of PC gaming death."

And, we all know that every year is the year of linux on the desktop and that the year of Duke Nukem is coming.

Thus, clearly, next year will be the year of playing Duke Nukem on a dead linux desktop*.

This quote should be the official tag line for for stories like this from now on.

Digital download. Ability to download your games on as many machines as you want (and play on one at a time, which I consider fair). Integrated grouping/friends-lists with Steam Friends and a built-in matchmaker.

It's pretty excellent.

What he said :) Plus I don't sell my games, I still have and play on a regular basis Unreal Tournament 99, 10 year old game and still has plenty of replay left in it.

Maybe I will purchase EA games again. I gave up on them after I tried to no end to get Battlefield 2142 to run just half way decently. I now buy most of my games through Steam, which means I miss out on a few titles, but the advantages of Steam far out weigh missing out on them for me.

Speaking of Adept and/or APT I'm going to have to pull out my fanboi card on this one, once I discovered how much better this was I never looked back, I used to use Mandrake when it was still called Mandrake, urpmi in mandrake went a long way to addressing some of the issues with installing/removing RPM's but in my opinion APT was just so much better, even PCLOS uses APT with RPM's which is great.
