If you're a thief, you just burn the cables to strip the jacket. If you're more serious (i.e. electrician who does demo, a real scrapper) you have a stripping machine that pulls the cable through a blade and automatically splits the insulation.
There's still a fuckton of work and waate generated, most of which contains shit like pthalates, lead and other delicious toxic materials.
Those cables are full of lead and other hazmat shit. Sure, there's copper in there. Who's gonna pick up the environmental remediation tab for all the liberated heavy metals, though?
"One person wrote an app that does 4 hours of work in seconds, saving tens of thousands of hours a year."
Uhh, How many fucking people did they have doing this 4 hour task full time? At least five to amke 10,000 hours a year. Nonsense
If they really gave a shit about security, there would be minimum standards for cybersecurity and the auditability of all critical infrastructure. This is a price fixing scheme to further smash the electrical equipment that is in such artificially high demand for all of those data centers that aren't actually being built
If only there was a decentralized network of computers which ran on a protocol to serve any of those things to a variety of platforms via a universal and free protocol. Oh wait, we had the internet. Fuck apps and any fuckwit that thinks the bank, the grocery store, some shithole gas station, or whatever the fuck needs an OS specific application to present that same information...
