People are dicks to each other sure, and they'll find ways of finding your soft spot. If your soft spot is that you get touchy when anyone insists you're inferior because you're a woman, congratulations, that's where the dicks are going to keep hitting you.

Calling me a "bitch" and calling you an "asshole" isn't worse for me because I'm a woman. Nor is it misogyny (even though the insult was gendered). It was directed at me and only me. And I have no problem with that. You have every right to feel the way about me that you do, as does everyone else on Slashdot.

I think this is spot on. People will attack what they see as vulnerabilities. Once you show that something bothers you.. that means they found your button, and are going to start pressing it.. repeatedly..

Personally I learned programming fundamentals in Logo, and by the age of 8 was programming in basic. I picked up a Kano for my 5 year old, who is fanatical about Minecraft, and I'm hoping Kano Blocks gives my daughter the same passion for programming that I got from Logo. Would you trust a doctor that has taken no biology classes, shown any interest in what it will take to become a doctor. But hey.. someone said Doctor = profit! So I paid my tuition.. and now I have a right to succeed at this course? (with the lack of effort that they have already demonstrated)

swandives writes "The Australian Grand Prix F1 event is being held in Melbourne this weekend (27-28 March) and Computerworld Australia has interviewed the technology teams for BMW Sauber, McLaren Racing, Red Bull Racing, and Renault about how they run their IT systems and how technology has changed the sport. Each car has about 100 sensors which capture data and send anywhere up to 20GB back to the pits during a race. The tech guys arrive a week before a race to set everything up — the kit for BMW Sauber weighs close to 3200 kilograms — and when it's all over, they pack it all up and move on to the next event.
