Most people are honest, and will buy stuff it it's realistically priced for what it does.
Coelho has found millions of new readers who love his ideas, and so will go on to buy his books for themselves and for friends. Good marketing.
It's when people's ideas are stale and their sales start to decline that they get paranoid about pirating.
