the open source community welcome this kind of analysis?
The biggest hole in the OSS concept was "tons of people will be reading our code and thus be able to fix our bugs and develop enhancements". In a couple of decades of engineering, programming, and project management, I don't recall anyone saying "hey, I'll spend my non-existent free time doing a thorough code review before tweaking this code to do what I want".
Hopefully I have been proven wrong...
