"To provide the high quality products and services that its customers demand, Apple must have access to the comprehensive location-based information," Apple says.

Ideology is affected not just by social factors, but also by a dopamine receptor gene called DRD4. The study's authors say this is the first research to identify a specific gene that predisposes people to certain political views.

The University of Wisconsin-Madison's School of Veterinary Medicine researchers identified the relocation of a specific amino acid in the gene matrix that enabled the 2009 H1N1 swine flu virus to hijack host cells, a feat that triggered the recent pandemic.

An anonymous reader writes: Lawmakers are considering a bill that would prohibit peer-to-peer file sharing programs from being installed onto computers without consent. The P2P Cyber Protection and Information User Act will also require software developers to inform people when their files are made available to others via peer-to-peer networks.
Authority would be given to the Federal Trade Commission to enforce the act.
