Am I the only person who saw the headline and thought it was about an arms race by e-reader manufacturers to be the first to support safari books online?

I bet they retain it forever to make sure you don't get the "New Customer" deal more than once. I know that our local cable company does something similar (can't remember if they used SSN or not), but basically, you could only get a new customer deal once.

While this may work for data cables, it wont work inside actual devices (not until the optical processors are produced) and definitely wont work for electrical cables.
