As a Navy kid living on an enormous Naval Air Station in Maryland where a lot of planes were stashed after WWII, I would pilfer tools from my dad's toolbox (which had to be replaced exactly so) and traipse off into the woods and take apart radios, Norden bombsights, engines, etc. The Shore Patrol didn't know the woods around the storage areas nearly as well as we did, and they didn't have K9 units. When epoxy was invented, my dad brought some home (they used it for sticking helicopter blades together) and we glued a big red glass cover from the top of the water tower onto the shore patrol captain's car they didn't stop looking for us until after dark, spotlights and all...
