Uniformed contractor? We're building a house this year, too. I can't let someone else wire. I've worked too many jobs where the ceiling and walls (wiring) go very wrong when someone else is involved. It's your network: try and understand it intimately from the walls and ceilings to the keyboard. We wired the house ourselves and videotaped the walls before the drywall went in. We know where everything is and what it tests at. It isn't valuable now, but will be later if experience is any indicator. Conduit is essential, but I don't agree with the article. I don't like to use flex conduit. You can get bound up in that stuff with your wires. Some people even try to use metal flex conduit...that stuff just rips your wire to shreds. I like PVC pipe.
