Comment Kindle Fire (Score 1) 415

I've been pretty pleased with my Kindle Fire for the price point. It took a little finagling to get it to do all the things I wanted it to, but most anyone reading Slashdot can probably figure stuff out. The biggest disadvantage is the stripped/locked down version of Android it runs. It does streaming video ok. I've managed to get apps I like. It's integration with the Amazon Kindle store is flawless and it reads great for those. PDF's are kind of so-so. I've tried the native reader and Adobe's app, but neither is perfect. They're useable, it's just a little more awkward than I'd like. I use it for games. I use it to watch video in bed at night. I use it to read on the go and at home. There are tablets that can do a lot more, but you have to pay for it. I sadly just didn't have the money to drop on one of those.

Here's the thing. Just because they're not accurate, doesn't mean there is no benefit to it. It's good to look to the future and it's good to dream. A lack of wonder and creativity leads to stagnation. I don't understand saying that people that try to predict the future have no vision. The whole point of this list is more about getting people to think about the future. To get them to imagine. This is not a bad thing. Yeah, you can probably make safe predictions about the future, but that doesn't get people striving to do something. Getting people thinking is not a bad thing.

There's not much to say other than that. I still enjoy getting my money's worth out of a game, and if it's only a couple of hours long I'm not buying it. If the trend keeps up, I'm going to back to reading and playing cards in my free time. The major advantage of games at a $60 price point is I know I'm going to get some kind of continued enjoyment out of them. If I'm done with a game after 10 hours, it's not worth my time.

Comment Digital Download (Score 4, Interesting) 504

I recently downloaded Starcraft directly from the Blizzard store because I lost my old discs for the game and some friends and I had the urge to play it. So, my question is, since you opened up the new store and offered digital downloads of your older games, are there any plans to use this to distribute your new games (Such as Diablo III or Wrath of the Lich King) through this avenue?
