I've heard of people implanting tiny rare earth magnets in their fingers so they can sense current flowing through wires and magnetic fields. I would like to try it when I can be certain they won't break when they're under my skin... :P

At my uni, you have to run the "connect client" which checks that you have anti-virus, auto updates etc. if you are running windows.

I've got an ATI Radeon Xpress 200M, and its no longer supported with the fglrx driver. That's the only thing I regret about upgrading to ubuntu 9.04... :(

I think you may have mistaken N2O (Laughing Gas - Nitrous Oxide) and NO2 (Nitrogen Dioxide). N2O is a colourless, sweet smelling anaesthetic gas whilst NO2 is a toxic brown gas that is often present in exausts.

The tests, which could involve more than 1,000 flights, will determine how the technology holds up under the rigors of flight. The technology is intended to stop attacks by detecting heat from missiles, then responding in a fraction of a second by firing laser beams to jam the missiles' guidance systems. A Rand study in 2005 estimated it would cost about $11 billion to protect every US airliner from shoulder-fired missiles. Over 20 years, the cost to develop, procure and operate anti-missile systems could hit $40 billion."
