Comment Re:Anti-Sunscreen (Score 1) 210

No need to dismiss contrary points of view. It's clear excessive exposure to sunshine is unhealthy. It's not clear that sunscreen is safe to use. If you have to choose between the two, then yes, choose sunscreen. But there are alternatives, like wearing long sleeve shirts and long pants, and wide brimmed hats (be aware of reflective surfaces, like snow or water, that probably bounce UV rays under hats). Personally, I dislike the feeling and smell of sunscreen. I'd rather find another way to cover up or just limit outdoor exposure during high UV periods (use your parent's basement if you need to :)

Snow Leopard Missed a Security Opportunity 304

CWmike writes "Apple missed a golden opportunity to lock down Snow Leopard when it again failed to implement fully a security technology that Microsoft perfected nearly three years ago in Windows Vista, noted Mac researcher Charlie Miller said today. Dubbed ASLR, for address space layout randomization, the technology randomly assigns data to memory to make it tougher for attackers to determine the location of critical operating system functions, and thus makes it harder for them to craft reliable exploits. 'Apple didn't change anything,' said Miller, of Independent Security Evaluators, the co-author of The Mac Hacker's Handbook, and winner of two consecutive 'Pwn2own' hacker contests. 'It's the exact same ASLR as in Leopard, which means it's not very good.'"

I use handheld computers on a regular basis at work. When I switch back to using a laptop after spending some time using a touchscreen device, I naturally want to touch the screen to move windows, select items from the taskbar, etc. It's silly that the functionality is missing. There's no need for this to replace the mouse. Touch-display and mouse input should complement each other.
