AD&D first, second and third are getting more and more stuff that is not needed by anyone, how just want's to play.
Some friends and I are playing plain old D&D (those old master-set stuff), and there is only one rule added:
The DM is right!
You can talk to him about "Am I getting a bonus?", and it is the DMs choice. And yes, it is working.
To explain why:
We have all played some AD&D 2nd, and/or 3rd, but those +guys (+1 from weapon, +2 from strength, +0,75 from good weather, +0,333333 from ..... = +42) are typical for most AD&D partys, and we just don't want to calculate our stuff, we jsut want to play.
(And about AD&D "whatever" is more realistiv and/or balanced, tell me why the DM is rolling his dice were you can't see them...) ;-)
