Comment Re:What's with the focus in India? (Score 1) 339

The focus is on India because it makes up a massive proportion of all of humanity, and the virus is running out of control there, with massive scale of loss of life, and that rate is currently *increasing*. The focus is not on New Zealand (as an example from your list), because the last time we had a COVID death here was 6 months ago. We absolutely do not need help. India absolutely does.

Thanks Wily for taking the time to reply to @geekmux's ridiculous "death row" comment. I am from NZ and confirm your post is spot on. Just a slight exagguration on the size of the first rugby test - I was at the game, we had only about 29,000 in the stadium so there a few empty seats. Apparently running games on a Sunday means a lot of out-of-towners didn't come down for the game. Anyway - that kind of proves your point in any case --- life really is back to normal in NZ except the tourism sector.

I think you (deliberately?) misunderstood what the parent said... he/she can now go snowboarding and mountain biking *because* we are COVID-free here in New Zealand. He/she was clearly choosing not to do so before - and was clearly holding off taking such trips while there was a risk and while NZ had restrictions in place, but now we are COVID free here it is 100% safe for us to go out and do stuff again. All restrictions have been lifted internally -- the only restrictions remaining in place are at the borders.
